payment?

Where should I send my submission?
You should send your
best work. I will consider poetry,
prose, essays, film and book reviews. Please
take some time to click on the “Great Kills Review” link on the left and read
through our current and archived issues before submitting.
As an author, you
always retain the “rights” to your creation – unless, for some odd reason, you
sell every right imaginable away to another party.
When the publication
of your work is in question you offer (sell) rights to the publisher. “Rights” can be defined in many contractual
ways. The rights I request upon
publication of your work are as follows:
Great Kills Press - Great
Kills Review (periodical)
·
The author offers the rights to Great Kills Press (heretofore
referred to as “GKP”) to publish his/her work in periodical form in Great
Kills Review (heretofore referred to as “GKR”) with the understanding that
while said work is published, online, in the current edition of GKR,
that the author will not have said work published elsewhere.
·
The day upon which the next edition of GKR is published
and made available to the public on GreatKillsPress.com marks the beginning of
the author’s agreed upon time for having said work published elsewhere with the
understanding that “previously published credit” will be made to GKR
upon publication of said material in another publication.
·
The author offers the rights to GKP to publish his/her work in
the “Archives” section of GreatKillsPress.com.
The “Archives” section will contain the original edition of GKR
in which the author’s work was published.

To Be Announced
I
aim for a turnaround of one month.
Not at this time – not yet, at least.
Include the following items at the beginning
of your email:
·
Full Name
·
Mailing Address
·
Email Address
·
Brief Bio
·
Publishing Credits
·
The following statement: “I attest that the work I am submitting
for consideration is entirely original and of my own creation.”
·
Your submitted work must be pasted to the body of the
email. Attachments will not be opened. Upon acceptance of your work you will be
asked to send the same work as an email attachment in MSWord format – only then
will attachments be opened.
Do not submit works that have been published
elsewhere. I may, on occasion, publish a
previously published work, but this will occur by invitation only.
Yes. However, should your work be accepted for
publication while still under consideration by Great Kills Press, it is
your responsibility to inform the editor of GKP as publication of your
work while it is also published elsewhere is not what we want. See “What ‘Rights’ are involved in
Publication?” above for more on this.
I
search through submissions for works that reflect the style I envision for GKR.
When and if your work is accepted for publication, it will then enter
the editing process. There is a fine
thread that runs throughout my journal and your work might need a tweak here
and a pinch there in order to ensure its appropriate place on that thread. Thus begins the editing process. This process will involve both of us and
requires your open mind.
Send
your submission to:

***Please remember that the submitted work must be in the
body of the email. Any email that
contains an attachment will be immediately deleted!
Good
Luck!
